April 20: Report: Trump pushed Sessions and
Wray to fire 2 FBI officials who sent anti-Trump texts
https://www.businessinsider.com/peter-strzok-lisa-page-fired-trump-2018-4
August 13: Peter Strzok, the senior FBI
counterintelligence official who has been in the hot seat since the Justice
Department’s inspector general discovered his anti-Trump text messages with DOJ
lawyer Lisa Page, has been fired from the bureau, his lawyer told multiple news
outlets.
Strzok, 48, was one of the main targets of a faction of House Republicans who
have sought information on anti-Trump bias in the upper reaches of the DOJ.
Aitan Goelman, Strzok’s lawyer, said in a statement that the office that usually
handles disciplinary action within the bureau had recommended a demotion and
60-day suspension, but that FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich ordered Strzok’s
firing on Friday.
“The decision to fire Special Agent Strzok is not only a departure from typical
Bureau practice, but also contradicts Director [Christopher] Wray’s testimony to
Congress and his assurances that the FBI intended to follow its regular process
in this and all personnel matters,” Goelman said.
At the heart of GOP lawmakers’ complaints about Strzok were a series of texts
from Aug. 8, 2016, between Strzok and Page, his alleged mistress, in which
Strzok wrote to Page, “We’ll stop” a Trump presidency.
Trump is “not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page wrote.

September 10:
FBI agent
Peter Strzok conspired with his in-house lover to leak anti-Trump
stories to the media in spring 2017 when he headed the
Russia probe into
the Trump campaign, a congressman said on Monday.
Rep. Mark Meadows, North Carolina Republican, sent a letter to Deputy Attorney
General Rod Rosenstein saying a House task force had just received a new
shipment of Justice Department documents.
“Our review of these new documents raises grave concerns regarding an apparent
systemic culture of media leaking by high-ranking officials at
FBI and DOJ,” Mr. Meadows said. “Review of these new documents suggest a
coordinated effort on the part of the
FBI and DOJ to release information in the public domain potentially harmful
to President
Donald Trump’s administration.”

September 12: Donald Trump traveled to
Pennsylvania early yesterday to honor the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, but
before heading to Air Force One, the president thought it was necessary to
whine on Twitter for a while and peddle a new conspiracy theory.
One of his missives
read, “New Strzok-Page texts reveal ‘Media Leak Strategy.’ @FoxNews So
terrible, and NOTHING is being done at DOJ or FBI - but the world is watching,
and they get it completely.”
As it turns out, someone “gets it completely,” but it’s not Donald
Trump.

September 21: President
Donald Trump on Friday put the
brakes on his plan to declassify and release documents and texts related to the
federal investigation of his presidential campaign and the inquiry into Russian
interference in the 2016 election.
The apparent reversal, which leaves unclear when, or if, the material will be
released, came after days of criticism about his move to declassify the items.
Trump said in two tweets that he has asked the Justice Department's internal
watchdog, Inspector General Michael Horowitz, to review the documents "on an
expedited basis" after concerns were raised by DOJ officials that releasing the
documents "may have a perceived negative impact on the Russia probe."
"Also, key Allies' [sic] called to ask not to release," Trump tweeted. "In the
end I can always declassify if it proves necessary."

September 22: Lisa Page Took Rod
Rosenstein’s Trump Tape Talk Seriously
Two sources told The Daily Beast that FBI lawyer Lisa Page was present for Rod
Rosenstein’s comments on secret recordings and did not believe he was joking or
being sarcastic.
A debate with major implications has broken out over whether Deputy Attorney
General Rod Rosenstein was being sarcastic when, in the spring of 2017, he
reportedly talked about covertly recording President Donald Trump.
A former career Justice Department official who was in the room when the topic
arose told The Daily Beast he believes the deputy attorney general was being
sarcastic. But another person in the room at the time has indicated she took it
seriously.
Former FBI lawyer
Lisa Page was present for Rosenstein's comments on secret recordings and did
not believe he was joking or being sarcastic, according to two people familiar
with the events in question. A spokesperson for Page declined to comment for
this story.
