December 26: Trump swears his administration will only 'buy American and hire American'

What he didn't explain in his Instagram vow, however, is why his businesses haven't yet followed those rules that he claims to be so "simple." In the last 15 years, Trump's businesses have hired "at least 1,256 foreign guest workers," CNN reported. Since Trump launched his presidential campaign in 2015, his companies have requested "at least 190 foreign visa workers."

Most recently, it was reported that the Trump Winery vineyard is looking to hire six foreign workers to start just days after Trump is sworn in as president. Trump also reportedly got approval from the U.S. Labor Department in October to hire 64 foreign workers to fill temporary jobs over the winter at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida.

April 18:

Buy American and Hire American: Putting American Workers First

On April 18, 2017, President Trump signed the Buy American and Hire American Executive Order, which seeks to create higher wages and employment rates for U.S. workers and to protect their economic interests by rigorously enforcing and administering our immigration laws. It also directs DHS, in coordination with other agencies, to advance policies to help ensure H-1B visas are awarded to the most-skilled or highest-paid beneficiaries.

USCIS is working on a combination of rulemaking, policy memoranda, and operational changes to implement the Buy American and Hire American Executive Order. We are creating and carrying out these initiatives to protect the economic interests of U.S. workers and prevent fraud and abuse within the immigration system.

May 5: Labor statistics 2016-2017:
https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000

May 5: The U.S. economy added 211,000 jobs to nonfarm payrolls in April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says. The number is a sharp rebound from March, when fewer than 100,000 jobs were created.

Both the national unemployment rate, at 4.4 percent, and the number of unemployed people, at 7.1 million, saw only incremental changes last month, according to the bureau. By falling from 4.5 percent to 4.4 percent, the unemployment rate remains at low levels that were last seen in 2007, before the recession hit.

May 5: A burst of hiring in April provided a reassuring sign for the U.S. economy, reducing unemployment and bringing a broader gauge of the job market's health to its lowest level since the recession began nearly a decade ago. Employers added 211,000 jobs, more than double the weak showing in March, the Labor Department said Friday . The unemployment rate dipped to 4.4 percent, a 10-year low, from 4.5 percent in March.

Taken as a whole, the April jobs report suggested that American businesses are confident enough in their outlook for customer demand to keep adding jobs briskly despite a slump in the January-March quarter when the economy barely grew.

May 5: So far this year, employers have added an average of 185,000 jobs a month, matching last year's solid pace. It shows that so far the job market under Trump closely resembles the one Barack Obama presided over in 2016. ...

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was essentially unchanged at 2.2 million in March and has shown little movement since June. In March, these individuals accounted for 27.6 percent of the unemployed.

July 5: The U.S. economy added 222,000 jobs in June, much more than economists were expecting, the Labor Department said Friday.

July 7: For a president who loves to talk about creating jobs, it's been a strong start: Employers have added 863,000 jobs during Donald Trump's first five full months in office [compared to Obama's last five months in office at 908,000 jobs]

July 7: Trump's five-month record is far better than Obama's first five months, when 3 million jobs were lost.

That's because Obama was sworn in during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, when the economy was hemorrhaging jobs.

By contrast, Obama handed Trump an economy that was close to what economists consider full employment. The unemployment rate on Inauguration Day was 4.8%, and it has fallen since then, to 4.4% in June.

September 24: [From "why do people love -or hate- Trump? Here Are The 20 Top Reasons "]

19. He cuts government services.
If you’re looking for work and need food stamps so you don’t starve to death before you find a job, or if you’re a single mother with a deadbeat husband and two babies to feed, or if you’re a mentally ill person in desperate need of care or you very might well harm yourself or others, don’t look to President Trump. He doesn’t care.

November 2: How real is Trump's jobs 'miracle'?

The recovery in employment since the financial crisis and recession it caused has been impressive.

The number who do have jobs hit a low in February 2010. By the time the White House changed hands last year, the number had increased by 16 million. Another four million have been added since.

The unemployment rate peaked at 10% in 2009, and was down to 4.7% by the time President Trump took over from Barack Obama. The decline has continued.

November 26: Trump is right, jobs for black Americans abound. Here's why it may not last

The unemployment rate for blacks sunk to 5.9 percent in May, the lowest since 1972 when the figure was first reported separately, but the milestone reflects a trend that took shape years before Trump took office.

Black employment has risen about 1.3 million under Trump to hit a record 19.3 million in October, but job gains were the strongest during Barack Obama’s second term when recovery from the Great Recession became more firmly rooted. Recent data indicate job gains for blacks may already be leveling off.

April 26: Trump Says Mar-A-Lago Can’t Find US Workers To Hire. New Documents Show Dozens Applied.

Trump often says his resorts have no choice but to hire foreign guest workers — there just aren’t any Americans to take the jobs. But government records show nearly 60 US residents applied for those jobs, and only one was hired.
