July 22: As Trump humblebragged last week, the vagueness of the highest valuation that can be listed means we can't know for sure exactly how much Trump is worth

It's that "$50,000,000 or more" category that's the curveball. It could mean that everything listed is worth $50 million -- in which case, Trump is worth $1.4 billion, minus liabilities. But there are liabilities that fall into that category, too. Maybe they're $50,000,000 a piece. Maybe they're $200 billion. Who knows?

June 29: In covering a story, a media outlet is not finding guilt. It is simply reporting the news that [for example] a lawsuit has been filed against Mr. Trump, and ideally putting the complaint in context. Unproven allegations are just that - unproven, and should be identified that way. ...  Proof comes later, at trial. But the November election will come well before any trial. And while Mr. Trump is presumed innocent, we are permitted — no, we are obligated — to analyze [a] case’s viability ....

August 25: What Donald Trump Knew About Undocumented Workers at His Signature Tower

In the summer of 1980, Donald Trump faced a big problem. For six months, undocumented Polish laborers had been clearing the future site of Trump Tower, his signature real estate project on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, where he now lives, maintains his private offices and hosts his presidential campaign.

The men were putting in 12-hour shifts with inadequate safety equipment at subpar wages that their contractor paid sporadically, if at all.

April 26: Among the more puzzling cuts in the Trump administration budget proposal is the one that eliminates all funding for the popular -- and cost-effective -- Energy Star program, which awards its vaunted label to products and properties that utilize the most energy-efficient technologies.

The voluntary program is credited with saving consumers billions of dollars on their electricity bills, curbing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging companies to innovate. The plan to eliminate it reflects the substantial influence in the administration of a small group of advocates in free-market think tanks who argue that even the voluntary measure reflects too much government interference in industry.

But it turns out those think tanks are not the only organizations that have an interest in seeing the program disappear. Trump’s businesses do too. A report on CNN details how Trump’s buildings consistently receive low Energy Star ratings, which diminishes their value. If the program goes away, so does that business problem.

Conflict of interest? "You bet your life that it is," Norman Ornstein, a political scientist at the American Enterprise Institute, told CNN.

June 12: Rising sea levels threaten Trump properties, especially in South Florida ... The president’s Mar-a-Lago estate, the soaring apartment towers bearing his name on Miami-area beaches and his Doral golf course are all threatened by rising seas, according to projections from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the South Florida Regional Climate Change Compact.

Severe damage may come sooner rather than later if the U.S. abandons the international agreement aimed at curbing emissions of heat-trapping gases that cause climate change.

South Florida roadways already flood routinely during storms or unusually high “king tides,” forcing cities to raise or move them and install expensive pumping systems.

June 16: Trump retains assets worth at least $1.4 billion, new disclosure shows

The report, which the president voluntarily filed with the Office of Government Ethics, shows that he collected an influx of new revenue from recent foreign deals and a surge of business at his signature Mar-a-Lago property in Florida.

March 6: Trump down $400 Million on Forbes List of Richest Billionaires
https://mundohispanico.com/dinero/trump-down-400-million-on-forbes-list-of-richest-billionaires-list

March 6: In 2011, Donald Trump famously declared, “Part of the beauty of me is that I am very rich.” But the now-president has apparently become slightly less beautiful, since his fortune dropped by $400 million last year, according to the newly released Forbes billionaire rankings.

On Tuesday, Forbes released its annual world billionaires list, with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos coming in as the richest person on the planet (with $112 billion) and Microsoft’s Bill Gates nabbing the second spot. Trump, however, fell 222 places on the list since taking office last year.

According to Forbes, Trump is now worth only $3.1 billion (instead of $3.5 billion). The loss seems to stem largely from real-estate issues — the value of Trump Tower in New York City declined by $41 million last year and high-profile retail tenants are apparently vacating his other Manhattan properties. His hotel licensing and management company has also dropped in value.

March 6: How much money has gone directly from the Treasury into Donald Trump’s bank account?

Today, Reps. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Ted Lieu (D-CA), Brenda Lawrence (D-MI), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), and Brendan Boyle (D-PA) will introduce the Curb Objectionable Redirection of Resources and Unconstitutional Payments to Trump (CORRUPT) Act, legislation that would require a comprehensive accounting of how much Donald Trump and members of his family have profited from his presidency.  Specifically, the bill would require a report on taxpayer expenditures to the Trump Organization and its affiliates in FY ’17, including Trump hotels, as well as an annual report moving forward on appropriated funds and regulatory actions which financially benefit the President, his businesses and those of his close family members.
