Undated: Anthony Scaramucci (born January 6, 1964) is an American financier, entrepreneur and political consultant who briefly served as the White House Director of Communications, July 21–31, 2017.

Scaramucci worked at Goldman Sachs' investment banking, equities, and private wealth management divisions between 1989 and 1996. After leaving Goldman Sachs, he founded Oscar Capital Management, and in 2005, he founded the investment firm SkyBridge Capital.

On July 21, 2017, Scaramucci was appointed White House Communications Director. He began work on July 25, although he had not yet been sworn in. Days into the job, Scaramucci provoked controversy after an expletive-laden interview with The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza, in which he made obscene and strongly derogatory statements about several members of the Trump administration. Ten days after the announcement of his appointment, he was fired by President Donald Trump on the recommendation of the new White House Chief of Staff, John F. Kelly.

July 21: President Donald Trump offered the job of White House communications director to Anthony Scaramucci on Friday morning, according to a senior administration official, a White House official and a source with knowledge. Scaramucci accepted.

The position has been vacant since longtime Republican strategist Mike Dubke resigned from the communications director post in late May after about three months on the job, leaving White House press secretary Sean Spicer to take on many of those duties.

July 21: [Trump campaign fundraiser Anthony] Scaramucci's appointment rocked a West Wing that was deeply divided over Scaramucci's hire, with sources telling CNN that both Priebus and Bannon fiercely opposed Scaramucci's hire while the President's son-in-law and daughter, who are both top advisers, encouraged the move.

July 21: Sarah Huckabee Sanders was promoted Friday to White House press secretary, replacing Sean Spicer in the wake of his abrupt resignation.

Sanders addressed reporters on camera alongside newly named White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci. While Spicer's resignation was delivered in apparent protest over the hiring of Scaramucci, the two top officials in the White House press shop worked Friday to project steadiness amid the palace intrigue.

July 21: Spicer originally was supposed to lead a newly restructured communications operation. Under that structure, the communications director would report to him. Scaramucci said Friday he would report to the president directly. [Which implies that Huckabee Sanders will not be Scaramucci's boss, which appears to be a bit of a lowering of the Press Secretary position].

August 1:  ... former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly was sworn in as chief of staff at 9:30 a.m. ET [on Monday, July 31], and by mid-afternoon, communications director Anthony Scaramucci was ousted just days after he joined the Trump team.

May 17: Inside Anthony Scaramucci's connection to Rob Goldstone

Anthony Scaramucci is no stranger to bizarre circumstances during his time in President Donald Trump's orbit.

This week, he found himself in the middle of perhaps his most intriguing Trump-related story yet, due to a newly revealed connection to Rob Goldstone, the entertainment publicist who set up a meeting between top Trump campaign officials and Russians linked to the Kremlin during the thick of the 2016 campaign.

"I don't officially start until the 15th Rob. But I just wanted to drop you a line to say if you ever need to pick my brains then my door is always open," Scaramucci wrote in [one] email. "Obviously there is still pressure on all sides, but if we remain consistent and united I don't envisage any issues we can't ride out."

The source declined to explain the substance of Scaramucci's meetings with Goldstone. But when asked why Scaramucci interacted with Goldstone, the source said Goldstone "was helpful on the campaign." When asked to explain how Goldstone was helpful, the source said that the publicist was "just hanging around the campaign. Nothing specific."

In a statement to CNBC ... he [Scaramucci] denied that his email to Goldstone had anything to do with Russia.
