February 22: Everything to know about the Florida spa at the center of the Robert Kraft sex scandal

Patriots owner Robert Kraft was charged Friday with two counts of soliciting prostitution. He was allegedly a customer at Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida, which is about 20 miles from Palm Beach and 30 minutes from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club.

Jupiter police said Kraft paid for sexual services at the spa and that there is video evidence of Kraft in both instances. Kraft has denied any illegal activity. So far, 173 people have been charged with crimes in the bust.

Police said women lived in the parlors and were coerced into having sex for money.

February 22:
How the sex trafficking ring allegedly solicited by Robert Kraft worked, according to investigators

The charges against Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, on Friday were part of a larger takedown operation against a sex trafficking ring that spanned at least 10 spa and massage parlors in Florida.

Many of the victims came from China on temporary work visas, according to David Currey, the chief of the Vero Beach Police Department, which was involved in the operation. At a press conference, he said that they believed they'd receive a legitimate job in US.

"Some of them are trying to make a better life for themselves," he said. "These people truly are stuck."

In November, police requested that the Florida Department of Health conduct a routine inspection after they surveilled the spa and saw postings about illicit sexual activity there on Rubmaps.com, a forum where people post about "erotic massage parlors."

February 22: Kraft—whose spokesperson “categorically” denied that he “engaged in any illegal activity”—goes way back with Trump, frequently paying visits to Mar-a-Lago, which is conveniently located just 22 miles from the Orchids of Asia Day Spa. Still, you might expect President Law and Order to come down pretty hard on his buddy boy, considering he’s previously encouraged police to rough people up during arrests, questioned the need for due process, and vocally called for five teenagers to be executed before they went to trial for a crime it turned out they did not commit. Except, of course, he’s only gung-ho about prosecuting people to the fullest extent of the law when said people are immigrants, minorities, women, or some other group with whom he can’t relate. When it comes to fellow septuagenarian billionaires and/or white people who’ve pledged their loyalty to him, it’s all innocent until proven guilty

March 8: The founder of a Florida day spa where New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was busted for allegedly soliciting prostitution watched this year's Super Bowl at a party hosted by President Donald Trump.

Li Yang, 45, snapped a selfie photo with Trump from the Super Bowl watch party, held at the president's West Palm Beach country club, the Miami Herald reported Friday.

Trump, a longtime friend of Kraft and Patriots admirer, is seen leaning back in his chair and smiling with Yang and another woman who are seated at a table behind the president in the blurry photo. They watched New England beat the Los Angeles Rams for the franchise's sixth championship.

Yang, an entrepreneur from China who goes by Cindy, opened a chain of South Florida day spas more than a decade ago that included Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida, which is now connected to a sex trafficking ring tied to Kraft's case.

March 12:
Were the Trumps Pictured With the Owner of a Massage Parlor Where Robert Kraft Was Arrested?

Be skeptical of memes because they are often inaccurate.

In early-to-mid-March 2019, photo-graphs of President Donald Trump and members of his family posing with Li Yang, a political donor and spa entrepreneur, circulated on social media. The images were used to link the Trumps with a sting operation in Florida.

Yang, who posted a widely seen selfie taken at Trump’s 2019 Super Bowl party to her Facebook account, once owned what is now the Orchids of Asia massage parlor in Jupiter, Florida. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was one of 25 men arrested in February 2019, accused of soliciting sex there in a sweeping, human-trafficking sting that targeted that site and others.

Kraft, a self-described friend of Trump, faces two counts of misdemeanor solicitation, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Yang no longer owns the establishment in which police say Kraft was caught on camera paying for sex. She has not been charged with a crime.

March 21:
Trump reportedly still wants Robert Kraft at the Patriots White House Super Bowl party despite Florida massage-parlor prostitution scandal

According to a senior White House official, Trump and Kraft have spoken since Kraft was charged with soliciting prostitutes in late February, Politico report, and the president wants him to be at the reception this spring regardless.

The 77-year-old CEO was charged with two counts of soliciting prostitutes on February 22, after a months-long investigation by Florida police into massage parlors allegedly tied to human trafficking.

Trump has said the charges against his old friend are "very sad."

"I was very surprised to see it. He has proclaimed his innocence totally, and, uh, but I'm very surprised to see it," Trump said.

Kraft attended Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's wedding in 2009, and has visited the Mar-a-Lago resort as a guest of Trump.
