February 16: "This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine," Trump said. "Despite the fact that I can't get my Cabinet approved, and they are outstanding people."

On Twitter: The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

How to tell the difference between real news and fake news? One example is Fox. If you watch carefully, you'll see that Fox has respected real news broadcasts (for example Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace) with separate "entertainment" programs called "opinion news"  (for example Sean Hannity). This mixture gives the impression that "opinion news" is actual news. It's not. "Opinion news" is information based partly on real news and partly on what the host and others in that particular broadcast believe -- which may or may not be factual information. It's up to the opinions viewer to carefully discern which is which, appreciating real news for its accuracy and perhaps enjoying opinion news for its personal opinions which you may or may not share. Most standard news broadcasters (for example  nytimes, NBC, Fox News, ABC, CBS, CNN, PBS) specialize in real news. Real news sometimes has mistakes and may include opinions, yes, but since real news is carefully vetted, real news is something you can generally trust. Opinions (yours, mine, TV or internet opinions) are always suspect, even when they might be noted within a standard news broadcast. Therefore, watch your step and resist getting caught up in unvetted opinions; instead, look for the facts of any story and elminate the "garbage". For a good overview of the difference, See 2017 October 20 link below to article by Fox's well-respected Chris Wallace commenting on the "news side" vs the "opinion side" of Fox (simply using Fox Opinions as an example, although there are many other news media presenting "Opinion News").

Do "real news" reporters also inject opinion? Of course. But the basics of their reporting must be carefully vetted for accuracy to prevent the report from straying into the arena of "pure opinion". It can be tough to distinguish, but careful study makes it absolutely possible.

February 20: Zakaria: 'Circus' Trump Admin Has Hardly Done Anything Since Inauguration

CNN's Fareed Zakaria went after President Donald Trump over the weekend, calling his administration a "rocking horse presidency" that has accomplished little in its first month.

Explaining the "rocking horse" comparison, Zakaria said the White House has been moving but not making any progress.

"What has he actually done? Hardly anything," said Zakaria, taking issue with Trump's contention last week that he has accomplished an unprecedented amount in his first weeks.

... we're quite proud of a lot of the achievements over the past four weeks. ... I think we've accomplished a lot. I think the media has been fixated on a couple of issues that are totally bogus ..."

April 28: President Donald Trump, reflecting on a first 100 days in office that has featured no major legislative wins and low approval ratings, said Thursday he thought the job would be easier.

"I loved my previous life, I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," Trump said in an interview with Reuters. "I actually, this is more work than my previous life. I thought it would be easier."

He later added, "I do miss my old life. This -- I like to work. But this is actually more work."

May 12: President Trump says if election were held now 'I would win by a lot more than I did on November 8' [Trump lost the popular vote by 2.8 million ... That deficit is more than five times bigger than the 544,000 by which George W. Bush lost to Al Gore in 2000 - the second biggest popular vote deficit in history for a candidate who has still gone on to become President. ]

"I think we're doing a great job," Trump said.

Just 36 percent of Americans approve of Trump's performance in a new poll

May 24: Few of the jobs companies are promising to create in the U.S. can be attributed to a sudden renewed commitment to USA Inc. inspired by Trump’s “America First” policies ... with corporate investments of this scale, such plans are typically months — or even years — in the making, suggesting they long predate the presidential election.

President Trump announced on Thursday that the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate accord

June 1: [Trump withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord is] a major step that fulfills his campaign promises while seriously dampening global efforts to curb global warming. The decision amounts to a rebuttal of the worldwide effort to pressure Trump to remain a part of the agreement, which 195 nations signed onto. Foreign leaders, business executives and Trump's own daughter lobbied heavily for him to remain a part of the deal, but ultimately lost out to conservatives who claim the plan is bad for the United States.

August 7:  Here's how investors and workers are doing after 200 days of President Donald Trump ... In his first six and a half months in office, the President has promised economic prosperity and a revitalization of American industry.

Trump is right that stocks are at a record, and job creation continues. What's wrong is the suggestion that this is reversing a decline that was in place before the new administration took office. ...

[For example,] This year's rally in stocks is part of an 8-year long bull market.

September 22: Trump spent much of his speech (in Alabama) applauding his administration's work -- including its strong support of the Second Amendment.

"We've got a lot of things done -- they hate to admit it -- including, we have a Supreme Court Justice, Judge Gorsuch, who will save, how about a thing called your Second Amendment? Right? OK, remember that?" Trump said.

August  2: What trump has quietly accomplished.

With the Trump administration’s chaos sucking up all the attention, it’s been able to move forward on a range of its priorities, which tend to be more focused on regulatory matters anyway. It is remaking the justice system, rewriting environmental rules, overhauling public-lands administration, and greenlighting major infrastructure projects. It is appointing figures who will guarantee the triumph of its ideological vision for decades to come.

August 2: The National Foundation for American Policy in a report out this week notes that “more than 7,000 men, women and children have died along the Southwest border” over the past two decades. More than 200 people have died so far this year, and last year the count topped 300. This year there have been 7.8 deaths for every 10,000 apprehensions of illegal border crossers.

The number of deaths increased by about 80% between 1999 and 2012, even as apprehensions—a reliable proxy for illegal immigration—plummeted by more than 75%. As a result, a person picking their way across the border is now “5 times more likely to die in the attempt than 18 years ago,” the report notes. One reason is that an enforcement crackdown has encouraged people to slip across more treacherous or remote areas of the southwest.

August 2: [Trump's] large-scale disasters do keep attention focused away from what smaller agencies are doing, as Ben Carson acknowledged recently.

“Let me put it this way,” the secretary of housing and urban development told the Washington Examiner. “I'm glad that Trump is drawing all the fire so I can get stuff done.”

October 16: ... the President has begun making as many changes as he can unilaterally. He announced he was ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protected young immigrants brought to the US illegally as children.

Last week, he began to chip away at Obamacare with an executive order that overhauls the insurance system. He chased it with an announcement that the administration plans to end subsidies to insurance companies that help low-income Americans pay for health care.

Still, the moves fall short of a signature legislative accomplishment. They also risk charges of hypocrisy after Republicans, including Trump, spent years hammering Obama for governing via pen and phone rather than through Congress.

December 9: US President Donald Trump has said the American political system is rigged and sick from inside.

"This is a sick system from the inside. And there's no country like our country, but we have a lot of sickness in some of our institutions," he added.

"We're working very hard, we've got a lot of them straightened out, but we do have, we really do, we have a rigged system in this country and we have to change it,” he continued.

May 24: Fact-checking Trump, Sanders' claims that House Dems getting nothing done

While defending President Donald Trump's decision to stop work on infrastructure legislation until House investigations into his administration stop, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday morning argued on CNN that House Democrats have not accomplished anything legislatively.

Both Sanders' claim and Trump's are misleading. While the Democratic-controlled House is pursuing 11 investigations relating to the President, House Democrats have also passed 235 pieces of legislation since January, including several major bills. Of those, only a handful have been taken up by the Republican-held Senate.

According to Congress.gov, the House has passed 235 pieces of legislation during the current session of Congress. That includes big items on the Democratic agenda as well as smaller bipartisan bills that get passed in any Congress, like the naming of post offices.
