April 29: Speaking about America's military presence abroad, he [Trump] said: ... We build a school, we build a road, they blow up the school, we build another school, we build another road they blow them up, we build again, in the meantime we can't get a fucking school in Brooklyn.

April 24: Democrats in the post-2016 world have potty mouths. ... plenty of lawmakers have cursed in public before. But the fact that Democrats have leaned into swearing months after being defeated by Trump -- an often off-the-cuff and at-times profane candidate -- signals that as much as the opposing party maligns the President, they also want to crib some of his unpredictable style ... The swearing follows a campaign where Trump ... made swearing a part of his stump speech.

October 11: Donald Trump Keeps Cursing. Here's Why It Might Help Him

Many American politicians have used curse words, but few have done so the way Donald Trump does.

Past presidents have been known to use indecorous language in private talks with their advisors or unguarded moments that were caught on tape, but none have made such dramatic and repeated use of curse words in public events.

January 12: In bluntly vulgar language, President Donald Trump questioned Thursday why the U.S. would accept more immigrants from Haiti and “shithole countries” in Africa rather than places like Norway, as he rejected a bipartisan immigration deal, according to people briefed on the extraordinary Oval Office conversation. Trump on Friday denied using that language.

March 12: NBC's Chuck Todd didn't appreciate Trump's profane put-down. Neither did Betsy DeVos

"It's 1999, I'm on Meet the Press, a show now headed by sleepy eyes Chuck Todd," Trump recalled, an insult he has levied against Todd multiple times. "He's a sleeping son of a b–. I'll tell you."

On Sunday morning, Todd responded to Trump's comments by talking about how the president's use of vulgarity creates problems for parents who raise their kids to look up to the commander-in-chief.

Todd isn't the only person to object to Trump's use of objectionable language during his speech. Education Secretary Betsy Devos, appearing on the Today show Monday to discuss the president's plan to arm teachers in the classroom, admitted the president could set a better example by toning down his sometimes rhetoric.

"I would probably use different language myself," DeVos said. "I think we all have an opportunity and a responsibility to be examples to our kids… That would include the president as well."

The first lady had weighed in earlier in the day. “Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families & hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform. She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws but also a country that governs w/heart,” her office told Fox News.

November 30: Politicians are increasingly using profanity

The rate at which politicians in Congress and state legislatures use expletives on social media has risen dramatically, according to data from GovPredict, an analytics firm.

In 2014, the firm tracked 83 instances of lawmakers using profane words. Over the next two years, usage rose slowly, but in 2017 -- the year President Donald Trump took office -- it exploded, with 1,571 instances. So far this year there have been 2,409 instances.
