Undated: John Richard Kasich Jr.
(born May 13, 1952)[2] is an American politician, author, and television news personality who served as the 69th Governor of Ohio from 2011 to 2019. Elected governor in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, Kasich is a member of the Republican Party.[3]

Kasich unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for President in 2000 and 2016, receiving one electoral vote from a faithless elector in Texas in 2016. Kasich refused to support the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and did not attend the 2016 Republican National Convention, which was held in his state; he reported that he wrote-in the name of U.S. Senator and former 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain.[8][9]

Kasich was term-limited and could not seek a third term in 2018; he was succeeded by Attorney General and former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine. In 2019, Kasich joined CNN as a senior political commentator.

April 3: John Kasich forms dark money political group with other prominent never-Trumpers

Former Gov. John Kasich has formed a policy group to promote center-right political viewpoints with several prominent critics of Republican President Donald Trump.

Based in Dublin, the group is called Two Paths America, named for Kasich’s 2017 publication, “Two Paths.” The group’s website says it was formed to “promote reasonable and proven solutions to America’s challenges.”

“Two Paths America is focused broadly on public policy that encourages a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution, the need for a strong national defense rooted in America’s international leadership, a forward-looking national energy plan that meets current needs economically while developing renewable energy resources for the future, and a renewal of a national sense of community and exemplary citizenship,” reads a blurb about the group on its website. “Specifically, Two Paths America will provide infrastructure to support this agenda, including staff, list management, social media, public relations and educational events.”

Among those joining Kasich are former California Gov. and movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman Jennifer Horn, former New Hampshire Republican Party chair. All are vocal critics of Trump.

Possibly the most notable board member, however, is Bill Kristol, the former editor of the Weekly Standard who has openly mused about backing a primary challenger to Trump. That includes reportedly courting Kasich for the task.

April 24: John Boehner Has Some Words For John Kasich Over His Potential Plans To Challenge Trump

Don’t do it. Just don’t do it. That pretty much encapsulates former House Speaker John Boehner’s view about former Gov. John Kasich’s presidential ambitions. It would mean the former 2016 candidate would have to mount a primary challenge against President Donald J. Trump. Bad idea. For starters, some states might not even hold primaries for the 2020 cycle. We already have our candidate, folks. This is just abject stupidity. And Kasich hails from a state that is now unequivocally Trump country.
