Isaac "Ike"
Perlmutter (Hebrew:
יצחק "אייק" פרלמוטר; December 1, 1942) is an
Israeli-American
businessperson and
financier. He is the chairman and former CEO of
Marvel Entertainment.[4][5][6]
He was also the owner of
Remington Products and
Marvel Toys.
In 2015, Laura Perlmutter donated $2 million to a
Super-PAC supporting the presidential candidacy of Sen.
Marco
Rubio.[2]
Early in his career, Perlmutter met his wife Laurie J. Perlmutter at a
Catskills resort and they married soon after. They divide their time between
homes in
Palm Beach, Florida, close to
Mar-a-Lago,
and
New York City.[3]
Perlmutter takes great pride in never having given an interview over his entire
career despite being in the public eye due to his many court battles and
bankruptcy fights.[3]
He has rarely been spontaneously photographed.[3][21][17]
In January 2016, according to
Donald
Trump, Isaac intended to donate $1 million to the
presidential candidate's
wounded veterans initiative at
Drake University.[19]
On June 30, 2016, Laura Perlmutter donated $449,400 to a PAC supporting Donald
Trump, and later was part of Trump's Inauguration committee.[20]
In April 2017, Perlmutter was categorized by
The New York Times as one of the "Clubgoers" among twenty people whom
President Trump consults "outside the White House gates". He "has been
informally advising ... on veterans issues [and] ... has been a presence" at
Mar-a-Lago,
according to the account.[21]
In August 2018 non-profit news organization
ProPublica
reported that Trump had informally authorized three members of his
Mar-a-Lago
club to direct policy at the
United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and issue instructions to
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Peter O'Rourke. Perlmutter was named among the three.[22]
The author of the article obtained "hundreds of documents" through the
Freedom of Information Act that show the three were in daily contact with
the agency, "reviewing all manner of policy and personnel decisions" and that
"they prodded the VA to start new programs, and officials travelled to Mar-a-Lago
at taxpayer expense to hear their views."[22]

June 13:
How a Legal Brawl Between Two Rich Guys Could Change How We Think About DNA
Toronto businessman Harold Peerenboom and Marvel Entertainment chairman Isaac
“Ike” Perlmutter were locked in an absurd suburban skirmish, bickering over who
should run the tennis center at Sloan’s Curve, the exclusive Palm Beach
waterfront community where both men resided. Peerenboom wanted to open bidding
for the position. Perlmutter was happy with the status quo, a woman named Karen
Donnelly who had run the center for years.
Soon, the skirmish escalated to all-out war. Bankrolled by Perlmutter, Donnelly
sued Peerenboom, claiming that he had slandered her at community board meetings.
Meanwhile, Peerenboom began receiving volumes of hate mail, and his neighbors
and business associates received letters accusing him murder and molesting
children. Naturally, Peerenboom sued Perlmutter back.
And it didn’t stop there. Next came the event that would elevate this
reality-TV-ready drama to a case of national interest.

August 7:
Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter is reportedly part of a troika of
wealthy men "shadow" governing the Department of Veteran Affairs.
According to a report by
ProPublica published Tuesday, Perlmutter, along with two other
members of Trump's Mar-a-Lago club, have been overseeing policy at the VA for
months, with a significant hand in shaping policy, overseeing personnel
decisions as well as being in regular contact with officials from the
department.
ProPublica reports that Perlmutter is the leader of the group shadow
running the VA with the other men being Marc Sherman, a lawyer, and Bruce
Moskowitz, a Palm Beach doctor. None of the three men holds official government
positions and none are veterans. All are members of Trump-owned Mar-a-Lago
resort in Florida, where membership initiation fees cost $200,000.

November 16:
Marvel Entertainment Chairman Named in NYPD Bribery Trial Over a Gun Permit and
Movie Tickets
Marvel Entertainment chairman
Ike Perlmutter is notorious for his
political conservatism and
aversion to being photographed. But a new report out of Manhattan Federal
Court alleges Perlmutter’s assistant worked with a police officer to acquire a
gun license renewal in New York City for her boss—presumably using power and
status to expedite the process through illegal quid pro quo.
The
NY Daily News reported this past Wednesday that former NYPD sergeant David
Villanueva, who once worked in the NYPD’s License Division,
testified under oath that he helped get Perlmutter’s license to carry a
firearm renewed (a
normally difficult task considering NYC’s laws) in exchange for tickets to a
number of Marvel movie premieres, many of which were held in Los Angeles. The
claim comes in the wake of
new changes to the application process which, beginning earlier this year,
now require that anyone seeking a gun permit in NYC go through an online portal
as opposed to filling out physical applications turned in directly to the
License Division.
