Trump
vs. the
Constitution:
A Guide

U.S. Constitution
Trump’s primary problem with the Constitution is not unlike Franklin
Roosevelt’s: It limits presidential power. He said in an interview with Fox
News marking the first 100 days of his presidency that the whole American system
of government is “a very rough system, an archaic system,” adding that “it’s a
really bad thing for the country.”
Trump believes that a dangerous and complex world requires that America have a
“closer” president but, alas, the Constitution instead built walls. It is both
a restraining and an empowering document.

Our Government -- The Constitution
The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme
law of the United States. Empowered with the sovereign authority of the people
by the framers and the consent of the legislatures of the states, it is the
source of all government powers, and also provides important limitations on the
government that protect the fundamental rights of United States citizens.

United States Constitution
The United States Constitution is the
supreme law of the
United States.[1]
The
Constitution, originally comprising seven articles, delineates the national
frame of government. Its first three articles
entrench the doctrine of the
separation of powers, whereby the
federal government is divided into three branches: the
legislative, consisting of the
bicameral
Congress; the
executive, consisting of the
President; and the
judicial, consisting of the
Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles
Four,
Five and
Six entrench concepts of
federalism,
describing the rights and responsibilities of
state governments and of the
states
in relationship to the federal government.
Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen
States
to
ratify it.
