March 17: Trump's Job Approval Among U.S.
Jews
During Trump's time in office so far, encompassing a little less than two
months, American Jews have given him a 31% job approval rating -- 11 percentage
points below his overall average of 42% during the same period.
This below-average rating of the Republican president is not unexpected. The
dominant predictor of how an American rates the president is partisan
orientation, and Jews tilt heavily Democratic -- 64% identify with or lean
toward the Democratic Party (Jan. 20-March 15 data), while 29% identify with or
lean toward the Republican Party.

Chabad of Port Washington, a Jewish community center on Long Island’s Manhasset

mall. The center is an unexceptional building on an unexceptional street, save
for one thing: Some of the shortest routes between Donald Trump and Vladimir
Putin run straight through it.

October 7: Trump to Jewish Democrats: No
Hanukkah party for you
“I think its an unforced error on the president’s part and a missed
opportunity,” said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston. “Why would you make
partisan decisions about invitations that are entirely not partisan? Hanukkah is
something that’s important to all Jews; the tradition is to invite the Jewish
members of Congress. My feelings certainly aren’t hurt by not being invited but
the few opportunities that we do have to come together certainly should include
a celebration like Hanukkah.”
While Democrats didn’t get an invite, the two Jewish Republicans in Congress
did.

August 3: President
Donald Trump's eldest son said the platform of the Democratic Party is similar
to that of the Nazi Party in Germany during the early 1930s and that history
classes are biased against conservatives.
Trump Jr.'s comment was a false equivalency. The Nazi Party's violent promotion
of racism and anti-Semitism is not comparable with the modern Democratic Party
of the United States.
The National Socialist German Workers' Party, which was commonly referred to as
the Nazi Party, was built on dictator Adolf Hitler's belief that Aryan Germans
were superior to all non-Aryans, particularly Jewish people. The party's
ideology was built on the central premise that Jewish people were responsible
for the problems facing Germany following World War I, and that belief
eventually spiraled into the government-run genocide against the Jews known as
the Holocaust.

US Ambassador David Friedman is disappointed with the reactions of some American

Friedman has found such reactions “frustrating, disappointing and hurtful,” but
at the same time is unwilling to give up on American Jews. “Some are misguided
but they mean well,” he said on Monday at the annual fall luncheon of the
Na’avah Tehilla Emunah chapter in Jerusalem.

Undated:
Trump and the Jews ...
The surprise election of Donald J. Trump
as President of the United States evoked passionate reaction across the American
political spectrum. It seemed as if not one American was neutral. Trump’s
supporters adored him, while the expressions of hatred of many of his opponents
defied the norms of civil debate.
Well into the Trump presidency, one community, the Jews, on both sides of the
ocean, has been on the front lines of the continuing Trump debate that has
gripped the nation. Trump’s relationship with the Jewish community is unique in
its very personal nature. Some of his key policy decisions affecting Jerusalem,
the Iran nuclear deal, and even economic policy, have been influenced by
positive relationships of trust that Trump maintained through the years as a
high-profile businessman in New York, as well as some Jewish family connections.
At the same time, most American Jews voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Furthermore, many members of the liberal American Jewish community have been
among President Trump’s harshest and most vociferous opponents

February 13: CNN
host Jake Tapper on Wednesday ridiculed Donald Trump’s condemnation of Minnesota
Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar by airing clips of the president’s history
of anti-semitic moments.
After Omar was criticized by Democratic leadership—who declared that her “use of
anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is
deeply offensive”—the congresswoman apologized on Monday for posting tweets over
the weekend which suggested that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)
bought influence over U.S. politicians.
Despite the apology, which was backed by
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) and Chelsea Clinton, Trump condemned
Omar on Tuesday and called on the congresswoman to resign over her comments.
"Anti-Semitism has no place in the United States Congress and I think she should
either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the House
Foreign Affairs Committee,” the president said, adding that her comments were
“deep-seated in her heart.”
During a segment on The
Lead today, host Jake Tapper pointed out that the president has never
apologized for his own history of anti-Semitic behavior before launching into
several clips proving his statement.
The chyrons at bottom of the segment read: “Double standard? Trump’s hypocrisy
on anti-semitism as he calls for Rep Omar to resign.”
