Undated: Adolf Hitler (20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was a German politician and leader of the Nazi Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; NSDAP). He rose to power as Chancellor of Germany in 1933 and later Führer in 1934.[a] During his dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, he initiated World War II in Europe by invading Poland in September 1939. He was closely involved in military operations throughout the war and was central to the perpetration of the Holocaust.

Under Hitler's leadership and racially motivated ideology, the Nazi regime was responsible for the genocide of at least 5.5 million Jews and millions of other victims who he and his followers deemed Untermenschen (subhumans) or socially undesirable. Hitler and the Nazi regime were also responsible for the killing of an estimated 19.3 million civilians and prisoners of war. In addition, 28.7 million soldiers and civilians died as a result of military action in the European theatre. The number of civilians killed during World War II was unprecedented in warfare, and the casualties constitute the deadliest conflict in history.

March 8: Trump responds to Hitler comparison

Donald Trump on Tuesday addressed criticism of a new practice at his rallies that has been compared to the "Heil" salute from Nazi Germany, dismissing the controversy as "ridiculous" before saying he would look into ending it.

"I don't know about the Hitler comparison. I hadn't heard that, but it's a terrible comparison. I'm not happy about that certainly," Trump said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Recently, Trump has started asking voters to raise their right hand and pledge to support him -- creating an image that some have argued evokes the rise of Adolf Hitler, particularly when coupled with his sharp rhetoric toward minority groups like Mexicans and Muslims.

March 11:

How GOP anti-intellectualism created a modern fascist movement in America

In an interview with Slate, the historian of fascism Robert Paxton warns against describing Donald Trump as fascist because “it’s almost the most powerful epithet you can use.”  But in this case, the shoe fits.  And here is why.

Like Mussolini, Trump rails against intruders (Mexicans) and enemies (Muslims), mocks those perceived as weak, encourages a violent reckoning with those his followers perceive as the enemy within (the roughing up of protesters at his rallies), flouts the rules of civil political discourse (the Megyn Kelly menstruation spat), and promises to restore the nation to its greatness not by a series of policies, but by the force of his own personality (“I will be great for” fill in the blank).

October 21:
How fascist is Donald Trump? There’s actually a formula for that.

Grading the billionaire on the 11 attributes of fascism.

Fascism was born in Italy during World War I and came to power with the ex-journalist and war veteran Benito Mussolini in 1922. Since the 1950s, dozens of top historians and political scientists have put fascism, especially the Italian and German versions, under the microscope. They’ve come up with a pretty solid agreement on what it is, both as a political ideology and as a political movement, factoring in all the (sometimes contradictory) things its progenitors said as they ascended to power. As a political ideology, fascism has eight main traits. As a political movement, it has three more. So: Just how fascist is Trump? On the fascist meter, we can award him zero to four “Benitos.”

Add all this up, and you get 26 out of a possible 44 Benitos. In the fascist derby, Trump is a loser. Even Spain’s Francisco Franco and Portugal’s António de Oliveira Salazar might score higher. While there is a strong family resemblance, and with some features an uncanny likeness, Trump doesn’t fit the profile so well on those points where the use of violence is required. Projecting an air of menace at rallies, uttering ambiguous calls for assassinations, tacitly endorsing the roughing-up of protesters, urging the killing of terrorists’ families and whatever else Trump does — while shocking by the standards of American politics — fall far short of the genuinely murderous violence endorsed and unleashed by authentic fascists.

November 7: A man who compared the Donald Trump campaign to Adolf Hitler's in the 1930s says he is glad to have started "one of the more civilised discussions" on the US presidential debate.

The tweeter, who says his name is Johan Franklin, posted a note to Americans on Friday from "the people of Germany" asking "what could possibly go wrong?" if they vote for the "guy with the loud voice", who "threatens to imprison his opponents".

He said: "You cannot compare Trump (or anybody) to the monster that was Hitler.

"But I see a lot of similarities in the way Trump and Hitler gained momentum, amassed followers around them despite so many telltale signs that all is not right.

December 8: Obama told the Economic Club: ‘We have to tend to this garden of democracy or else things could fall apart quickly.

‘That’s what happened in Germany in the 1930s, which despite the democracy of the Weimar Republic and centuries of high-level cultural and scientific achievements, Adolph Hitler rose to dominate.

‘Sixty million people died. So you’ve got to pay attention.’

No matter whether you agree or disagree with the legislation, for this comparison, it’s NOT important.

What is important is the weird bizarre alarming hero worship praise bestowed on him as displayed by his assigns in the White House after the vote .

January 30: On the eve of President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address, U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn drew a stark comparison about the direction of the country, comparing American politics today to Germany “right after... Hitler was elected.”

“He began to do things to discredit the media, to disrupt the judicial system,” Clyburn said of the Nazi dictator. If Americans aren’t careful, “we could very well see ourselves going the way of Germany.”

September 24: [From "why do people love -or hate- Trump? Here Are The 20 Top Reasons "]

11. He’s nationalist rather than globalist.
World War II was a fight between nationalism and globalism. Did you know that the “N” in “Nazi” comes from the fact that Hitler’s party called themselves “National” Socialists? So if you’re on the side of nationalism v. globalism, you’re taking the side of Nazis and the losers in the last tragic World War.

October 5: A leading Holocaust historian just seriously compared the US to Nazi Germany

“If the US has someone whom historians will look back on as the gravedigger of American democracy, it is Mitch McConnell.”

Usually, comparisons between Donald Trump’s America and Nazi Germany come from cranks and internet trolls. But a new essay in the New York Review of Books pointing out “troubling similarities” between the 1930s and today is different: It’s written by Christopher Browning, one of America’s most eminent and well-respected historians of the Holocaust. In it, he warns that democracy here is under serious threat, in the way that German democracy was prior to Hitler’s rise — and really could topple altogether.

Browning, a professor emeritus at the University of North Carolina, specializes in the origins and operation of Nazi genocide. His 1992 book Ordinary Men, a close examination of how an otherwise unremarkable German police battalion evolved into an instrument of mass slaughter, is widely seen as one of the defining works on how typical Germans became complicit in Nazi atrocities.

October 7: We tracked down one of Hitler's last living family members on Long Island and found he likes Merkel and dislikes Trump

There's an American flag raised in the front yard of brothers Brian and Louis' place.

Adolf Hitler was the uncle of their father, William Patrick Hitler. Born in the United Kingdom, "Willy" emigrated to the US in 1930. In the Navy, he fought against the Kriegsmarine (the name of the German navy at that time). Back then, they still used their old family name.

Hitler against Hitler. A coup for the American war propaganda. Afterward, Willy Hitler became a phantom. He withdrew to Long Island with his German wife, Phyllis. He wanted to spare his sons the curse of the worst family name in world history. He was also worried about the remaining Nazis — Hitler had hated his nephew and called him "loathsome."

October 9: RELATIVES of notorious Nazi leader Adolf Hitler have been quietly living in the US [and born in the U.S.]  under false identities since World War II, it has been revealed.

And now, the German dictator’s oldest living male descendant has given a rare media interview — branding US President Donald Trump a “liar” in the process.

“Some things that Trump says are all right … It’s his manner that annoys me. And I just don’t like liars.”

November 29: Venezuela’s president boosts wages, compares Trump to Hitler

Venezuela’s socialist president boosted the minimum wage 150 percent Thursday to combat what he called an economic war being waged by the United States as he compared U.S. President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

“Just like Hitler persecuted the Jewish people, Donald Trump persecutes the people of Venezuela,” President Nicolas Maduro said.

Maduro further vented his frustrations against U.S. economic sanctions that block Venezuela from financial markets, saying they keep the cash-strapped government from refinancing billions in debts and easing its crisis.
